Y’all are gonna be bummed about this, but … I’m retiring the special edition Titan Mage Omnibuses, effective September 30. 😣
There are several reasons why:
A big one is the ever-changing tariff situation.
The Titan Mage Omnibuses are Printed-on-Demand by BookVault in the UK. (I’m in the US.) Printed books are supposed to be exempt from tariffs and duty fees, but I keep getting tariff bills – sometimes WEEKS after my books have arrived, and I’ve already shipped them out to customers. I’ve been told by numerous people who deal with shipping internationally that this shouldn’t be the case … but that some shipping companies are also likely taking advantage of the chaotic state of tariffs right now to slap fees on everything, just to see who’ll pay without question.
I dispute them, but as many shipments as I order, it takes up lot of time I don’t have – enough that I’d rather not deal with it anymore.
A significant second reason, though, is the long-term durability (or emerging lack thereof).
For readers who’ve picked them up as pretty shelf trophies, they’re awesome. 😃
However, one thing I’ve discovered since their release is I have A LOT of readers who read and re-read THE HECK out of them. Which is awesome, and I love that y’all love my books that much. 😊 But … because of how chonky the books are, the binding isn’t holding up to that level of use. 😬
I want to be clear: BookVault’s bespoke/special edition books are generally great. I’ve never had any issues with non-omnibus (thinner) books printed through their service. It’s just that I made these particular books so thick, they found the limits of their binding capabilities.
Still, the people finding the limits of this binding are some of my most enthusiastic readers – and I don’t want my most enthusiastic readers to get books that fall apart.
The downside is, for a series as long as Titan Mage (i.e. with such inevitably huge omnibuses), I don’t think even a traditional-style print run will solve the binding problem – so this is the end of the special edition omnibuses for now. 😔 The upside, though, is that it’s moved special edition hardbacks of each of the individual books up my to-do list! (NOTE: Release Date Very TBA, as there are several other projects I need to get out of the way first.)
You’ll also still be able to read and listen to the box set digitally, on Amazon and Audible.
All that said, if you still want to grab these omnibuses, or want to complete your set, be sure to place your order by September 30.
After that, I’ll place my final order. It’ll take a month or so for the books to come in – so I hope to ship them out around late October/early November.
